The Story of Proud Phoenix & Co 

Proud Phoenix Co is a story of courage, resilience, and flavours carried across oceans.

In 1978, founder June (Dieu) Tran’s mother first created her own Chilli Crisp Oils while working as a chef in the Vietnam Navy. Her cooking was more than just food—it was strength, comfort, and a piece of home for everyone she cared for.

When life in Vietnam became uncertain, she made the brave choice to leave. Through years of sacrifice, she saved enough gold bullion to bring Dieu and her sister Thy on a boat to Australia, chasing the promise of a better life.

Starting fresh was not easy. From long days in factories to nights of dreaming, food remained at the centre of their lives. Inspired by her mother’s determination and flavours, Dieu and her mother opened their first restaurant in 2002 — Proud Peacock in Glen Waverley. It became a place where Vietnamese tradition blended with the Australian community, serving food that told their family story.

From these roots grew Proud Phoenix Co. Today, the brand carries forward her mother’s legacy with five unique blends of Chilli Crisp Oils and the signature Crunchy Lime Salt. Each jar is crafted with purpose, each flavour tells a story, and together they honour a journey of survival, strength, and love.

The phoenix is our symbol—rising from struggle into strength, just as our family has done. Proud Phoenix Co is not just condiments; it’s a legacy of resilience and flavour, shared with every meal.
